Fruitport Twp., MI (WGHN) – A Muskegon High School junior who was struck by a vehicle while fleeing a shooting at a post-prom party in Fruitport has been identified by her family.
Tamara Williams told WZZM 13 ON YOUR SIDE that her daughter, Jordyn Williams, was seriously injured Saturday night after gunfire erupted during a prom after-party at the VFW Post 3734 hall. Police say four people suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds in the incident. During the chaos that followed, two people were struck by vehicles attempting to leave the area, including Jordyn Williams.
Her mother said Jordyn is currently in intensive care but remains in stable condition and was scheduled to undergo multiple surgeries Monday on her left leg. Tamara Williams said her daughter was born with sickle cell anemia and receives monthly treatment at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
She described Jordyn as shy and creative with interests in makeup, braiding, and sewing. Jordyn also designed and hand-sewed part of the prom dress she wore over the weekend.
Investigators believe multiple people fired weapons during the incident. Authorities have not announced any arrests or released suspect information.
Neighbor Lisa Bosworth said the shooting was followed by chaos as teens ran through nearby yards and driveways trying to escape while vehicles quickly fled the area.
