Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The City of Grand Haven is proud to announce the successful completion of the coal pile cleanup on Harbor Island. This major step included the removal of coal and coal-impacted soils from the 11-acre former J.B. Sims Generating Station site — all safely transported to a licensed landfill. The area has now been cleared, graded, and restored.
“This cleanup represents real progress in restoring and protecting Harbor Island,” said Derek Gajdos, Project Management Director for the City of Grand Haven. “We’re proud of the collaboration that made this possible and excited to move into the next phase.”
A  town hall Meeting hosted by the City of Grand Haven: is scheduled for Thursday, November 6 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
