(Ottawa County, MI) – The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development says cases of bird flu across West Michigan continue to increase. The bird flu, called highly pathogenic avian influenza, has been confirmed in a commercial flock in Ottawa County, making the third case detected in the county this year.
Anyone who has contact with sick or dead birds are urged to be on the lookout for possible symptoms, including fever, sore throat, cough, and muscle aches, even though human cases of the bird flu are rare.
