Grand Haven Harbor To Be Dredged This Fall

By Mary Ellen Murphy Aug 26, 2025 | 7:01 AM

(Grand Haven, MI) – The Grand Haven Harbor will be dredged this fall. Congresswoman Hillary Scholten announced the project was moving forward yesterday after several months of relentless advocacy. Scholten says the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract and the project was uncertain for months due to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s new testing requirements necessary to issue dredging permits.

She says long delays would have been catastrophic for the west Michigan economy, as it may have led to supply chain hold ups and higher prices for consumers.
