Report: Michiganders Need To Earn $24.46 An Hour For Two-Bedroom Home

(Lansing, MI) – A new report released by the National Low Income Housing Coalition is finding Michiganders need to earn at least 24-dollars-46-cents an hour to be able to afford a two-bedroom rental unit. To afford a one-bedroom home, a person needs to earn 19-dollars-66-cents an hour. Michigan’s average wage for people who rent their homes is 18-dollars-89-cents and the state’s minimum wage is 12-dollars-48-cents.

The NLIHC says nearly half of all renters in Michigan are paying more than 30-percent of their income on rent and utilities.
