(Ottawa County, MI) – An evidentiary hearing is being ordered for an Ottawa County mother who had previously been convicted of murdering her daughter. Back in 2002, now 69-year-old Karen Boes had been accused of starting a house fire which killed her daughter, 14-year-old Robin Boes. A trial court had previously denied Boes’ request for a new trial, but now the Michigan Court of Appeals has ordered that an evidentiary hearing be held, which will allow for both sides to present and challenge new scientific evidence.
Boes is currently serving a life sentence after being convicted of first-degree felony murder.
