Norton Shores, MI (WGHN) – Norton Shores police have identified the man killed in Tuesday morning’s fatal pedestrian crash on Seaway Drive near Grand Haven Road. The victim was 23-year-old Steven Dewitt of Northern Michigan.
Police say further investigation and interviews with witnesses have also cleared up some of the initial reports surrounding the crash. Investigators now say the incident was not a hit-and-run. Initial reports indicated the pedestrian may have jumped from a vehicle before being struck. However, investigators determined Dewitt had been walking along eastbound Seaway Drive when he was struck by multiple vehicles.
The crash happened around 7 Tuesday morning. Dewitt died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Norton Shores police say all individuals involved in the crash have been identified. The investigation remains ongoing.
