(Detroit, MI) – The most expensive U.S. Senate race in Michigan history has been won by Democrat Abdul El-Sayed. He defeated Republican Mike Rogers, a former member of the U.S. House. Rogers also lost the 2024 U.S. Senate race to Democrat Elissa Slotkin. El-Sayed will be part of the new Democratic Party majority in the U.S. Senate when he takes office in January.
He is the son of Egyptian immigrants and was subjected to attacks calling him a “jihadist” and terrorist sympathizer.
