Holland Twp, MI (WGHN) – A man is in custody after shots were fired Wednesday afternoon at a campground in Holland Township.
Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies were called to Drew’s Country Campground on Ransom Street around 3:20 p.m. Investigators say a contractor was working inside camper trailers when he knocked on the door of one trailer and shots were fired. Deputies, tactical teams and crisis negotiators responded to the scene. The suspect was taken into custody safely around 6:05 p.m. and booked into the Ottawa County Jail.
His name has not been released. The sheriff’s office says it will be made public after he is formally charged and arraigned.
U.S. 31 was closed in both directions between New Holland Street and Quincy Street during the incident. The highway reopened around 6:20 p.m.
