2nd Polling Firm Busted For Fake Numbers

By Mary Ellen Murphy Oct 22, 2026 | 6:52 AM

(Undated) – It appears another polling firm has been busted for using fake numbers with midterms fast approaching. Wedgewood Polling was questioned by a polling aggregator about their methodology after giving sizable leads to Democrats in Texas, Michigan, Georgia, Maine, Ohio and Kansas and elsewhere. Wedgewood has now admitted to the made-up numbers, and is calling it an social experiment to see how many news outlets would use it. Wedgewood polls were cited by The New York Times, and other outlets.

This comes after polling firm Media Strategies pulled a similar stunt in August. FCC chair Brendan Carr warned that broadcasters who air the fake data risk losing their licenses.
