(Kalamazoo, MI) – The campaign by Democratic state Senator Sean McCann in Kalamazoo received a boost Wednesday with a rally featuring McCann and former U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Buttigieg said incumbent Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga “is no Fred Upton,” adding Upton “was known for standing up to his party when it was the right thing to do.” Huizenga responded by saying “nothing says out of touch” like McCann bringing Buttigieg in to campaign with him.
The Cook Political Report recently moved the Fourth District U.S. House race to a toss-up from leaning Republican.
