(Atlanta, GA) – The CDC is releasing data showing that U.S. measles cases have surpassed four-thousand this year. As of Friday, there were four-thousand and 80 confirmed measles cases across 47 states and the District of Columbia. The CDC says more than eleven-hundred of those infections, or 25-percent of the total, have been in Pennsylvania. South Carolina is next with 670 cases. Health officials in Pennsylvania are reporting five measles deaths but the CDC is confirming just two and hasn’t said where.

What health experts do agree on is that this is the largest outbreak in the U.S. in 35 years.
