(Geneva) – The World Health Organization is releasing first ever guidelines to address the big rise in obesity among children. The organization is recommending structured dietary and physical activity tailored to individuals or part of a program. It does not recommend pharmacy treatment or weight loss surgery that changes the digestive tract for children up to nine years old. The World Health Organization is also calling on policy makers to make healthy diets and physical activity more accessible and affordable.
The CDC says about 20 percent of U.S. children and adolescents have obesity.
