Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – A Grand Haven man is facing federal drug charges after investigators say they seized more than 22 pounds of suspected counterfeit Xanax and nearly one-and-a-half pounds of methamphetamine from his home.
Nicholas Campfield is charged with possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. According to federal court documents, the investigation began in July when postal inspectors intercepted packages addressed to Campfield. Investigators say one package contained heroin, while another contained about 173 grams of suspected counterfeit Xanax.
A third package, intercepted in September, contained 121 grams of blue pills that tested positive for fentanyl.
Court documents say investigators found Campfield had received more than 30 suspicious packages over the past year.
Investigators also began monitoring Campfield’s Grand Haven home in June. They said several people made brief visits to the home, typically lasting just two to five minutes. Investigators said some of the visitors went to a vehicle parked in the driveway before quickly leaving.
WOOD TV 8 broke the story and reports that F-B-I Special Agent Kevin Kaiser said those brief, contactless visits are commonly associated with drug transactions.
Agents searched Campfield’s home last week.
According to court documents, they found about 675 grams of orange pills that tested positive for methamphetamine, along with more than 10 kilograms of suspected counterfeit Xanax.
Investigators also found a pill press, a mixer, a respiratory mask, drug-related materials and a notebook containing what they described as a recipe with ratios.
A loaded handgun was also found in the home, according to investigators.
The F-B-I says Campfield was arrested Friday.
