Ottawa County, MI WGHN) – A Holland woman is facing an operating while intoxicated causing death charge following a fatal crash Tuesday night in Holland Township.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old Rajinder Kaur was driving a GMC Acadia at a high rate of speed when it collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee at Butternut Drive and James Street around 7 p.m.
The Jeep was carrying five people.
A 62-year-old Holland woman, Maria Acevedo-Venegas, was killed.
The 22-year-old woman driving the Jeep and a one-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital. A 62-year-old male passenger was airlifted to a hospital with injuries.Another 22-year-old male passenger was not injured.
Kaur was not injured.
She was arraigned in 58th District Court and released on a 25-thousand-dollar bond.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
A GoFundMe for Maria Acevedo Venegas’s family and her husband, Jose Acevedo, who was seriously injured and airlifted to the hospital. Donations will cover Maria’s funeral costs and Jose’s medical expenses.
