Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) -The City of Grand Haven will temporarily suspend its noise ordinance Friday morning as construction continues on the new five-story, 128-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel.

Lakewood Construction plans to begin pouring concrete floors at about 5 a.m. Friday and continue throughout the day. Two floors are expected to be poured. The early start is necessary to keep a steady flow of concrete trucks moving so each pour can be completed in one day.

The city has asked the contractor to minimize impacts on nearby residents, including limiting unnecessary noise and directing construction lighting away from homes.

The concrete pours are expected to take place about every 10 days until the remaining floors are completed. The schedule could change depending on the weather.

The roadway will remain open during the work.
