(Ottawa County, MI) – A man is being sentenced for breaking into an Ottawa County home and stabbing a resident and the family’s dog. In November of last year, 24-year-old Jason Varnado entered the back door of a home in Olive Township and proceeded to stab the homeowner and a dog multiple times. The 68-year-old homeowner survived from his injuries, but the dog, a Rottweiler named Chief, died.
Varnado pleaded no contest to charges of home invasion and killing or torturing an animal and has been sentenced to a minimum of eleven-years in prison.
