(Grand Rapids, MI) – Grand Rapids police say the driver who crashed his vehicle into a tree and died Sunday was trying to flee from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. He has been identified as Mario Juarez, who was an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala. Juarez had been living and working in Grand Rapids for about seven years.
GRPD says ICE tried to stop him before 7 a.m. Sunday and he died after crashing into a tree and the car caught fire.
