Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) -The City of Grand Haven has approved a resolution asking the DNR to perform a study and hold their own public hearing on an approximately 1800′ extension of the no-wake zone from Beechtree southeasterly along the river at Eastpointe RV Park, to protect the docks there.
High boat speeds right outside the existing boundary have caused safety and docking concerns for their 119 boat slips

Residents voiced “common sense” support during the hearing, noting that slowing down near docked boats is standard safety courtesy.
Because municipalities cannot unilaterally establish permanent watercraft speed zones in Michigan, the approved resolution acts as a formal petition. The DNR will now conduct its own investigation and will host a future public hearing before any permanent changes are written into Grand Haven’s Harbor and Waterways ordinance.
