(San Francisco, CA) – Anthropic’s CEO is calling for a serious slowdown in the AI race. In an essay posted Saturday, CEO Dario Amodei wrote, “we must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models.” He cautioned that people may lose control of AI and the technology can be misused for “cyberattacks and bioterrrorism and serious economic disruption.”
Amodei’s weekend post comes after an Anthropic researcher’s resignation over concerns that the firm and its competitors are not acting responsibly with AI development.
