(Dallas, TX) – Former President George W. Bush is reflecting on the attacks of September 11, 2001. Speaking at his presidential library in Dallas ahead of the 25th anniversary of the attacks, Bush remembered first learning what had happened, saying it was a “moment of clarity.”
Joined by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Bush recalled realizing “that we were vulnerable to attack based upon what we believe.” He is attending the 9/11 commemoration at Ground Zero in New York City today, along with former presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

Bush says one enduring memory is of throwing out a ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium during the 2001 World Series just weeks after the attacks, quipping that he was relieved it went over the plate:
