Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The following is a list of meetings this week in Ottawa County.
Grand Haven
The Grand Haven City Council will consider a $1.9 million contract with Harbor Island to remove coal combustion residuals (CCRs) from the north channel during its meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 519 Washington Ave.
Cleanup work continues on Harbor Island following the 2020 demolition of the J.B. Sims Generating Station.
Other items on the council’s agenda include a bid for boardwalk repairs, a road salt contract and a special event request to use the city beach for the King of the Great Lakes wind sports festival.
The council will also hold a work session at 6:30 p.m. to receive an update on redevelopment of the former Board of Light and Power Diesel Plant Building on Harbor Drive. John Groothuis of Capstone Companies will lead the presentation.
Other Grand Haven meetings scheduled next week include:
- Musical Fountain Committee: Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m.
- Main Street Downtown Development Authority: Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 a.m.
- Sustainability and Energy Commission: Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m.
All three meetings will be held at City Hall.
Board of Light & Power
The Grand Haven Board of Light & Power will hold a special meeting Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 4:15 p.m. at 1700 Eaton Drive in Grand Haven.
The board is expected to enter closed session to discuss trial or settlement strategy with its attorneys regarding a lawsuit filed by Matthew Sterling.
Sterling, a former utility employee and whistleblower, alleges he was wrongfully fired in 2024 after reporting concerns about illegal activity involving the utility’s former manager.
Ferrysburg
The Ferrysburg City Council meeting scheduled for Monday, Sept. 7, has been canceled because of the Labor Day holiday.
The Ferrysburg Zoning Board of Appeals will meet Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 17520 Ridge Ave.
Grand Haven Township
The Grand Haven Township Board meeting originally scheduled for Monday, Sept. 7, has been postponed until Monday, Sept. 14, because of the Labor Day holiday.
The township Planning Commission is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. at the township offices, 13300 168th Ave.
Robinson Township
The Robinson Township Board will meet Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. at Township Hall, 12010 120th Ave.
According to the agenda, the board is expected to consider granting a license for Christ is King Flag Football, a quote from Terry’s Tree Service and a snow-removal quote from Tiemer’s Property Services.
The Planning Commission will hold a zoning review meeting Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m., also at Township Hall. The agenda includes a rewrite of the township’s zoning ordinance.
Crockery Township
The Crockery Township Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Township Hall, 17431 112th Ave.
Spring Lake Village
The Spring Lake Village Parks and Recreation Board will meet Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at Barber School, 102 W. Exchange St.
The village’s Downtown Development Authority will also meet at Barber School on Thursday, Sept. 10, at noon.
The Zoning Board of Appeals meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, has been canceled.
Ottawa County
The Ottawa County Plat Board will meet Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. in the Oak (Clerk’s) Conference Room at the county administration building, 12220 Fillmore St.
The Community Mental Health Consumer Advisory Panel will meet Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m. at the Community Mental Health Services Fulton Center, 111 Fulton St., Grand Haven.
On Thursday, Sept. 10, the Housing Advisory Board will meet at 10 a.m. in the Hemlock Conference Room at the county administration building. The Ottawa County Veterans Services Committee will meet at 6 p.m., also in the Hemlock Conference Room.
Spring Lake Township
No official township meetings are scheduled for next week. The Board of Trustees is expected to meet next on Monday, Sept. 14.
