(Detroit, MI) — Tens of thousands are still without power after three tornadoes hit southeast Michigan. Over 400-thousand people lost power near Detroit on Wednesday after the region was hit with powerful winds and heavy rain. As of late Saturday, The DTE Energy company said about 40-thousand people were still without service. On Friday, the National Weather Service confirmed that three tornadoes had touched down near Detroit during the storms, uprooting trees, knocking down power lines and tearing off roofs.
Utility crews are urging residents in the area to refrain from cleaning up around downed power lines.
