(Undated) – Dogs may not be aware of what a popularity contest is, but these ten breeds are winning one anyways. The pet sitter and service provider Rover assessed its database of millions of user-submitted dogs to determine which ten breeds are among the most popular with U.S. families in 2026. Non-designer mixed breeds once again come in at number one in the rankings, followed by labrador retrievers, golden retrievers, goldendoodles and German shepherds to round out the top five.
The small but feisty chihuahua enters the list at number six, followed by dachshunds, French bulldogs, shih tzus and Yorkshire terriers to complete the top ten rankings.
