Governor Candidate James Names State Representative His Running Mate

(Lansing, MI) – A Michigan Republican candidate for governor, John James, has named State Representative Jay DeBoyer as his running mate. In a social media post, James says he chose DeBoyer to become the next lieutenant governor because he has run a business, served in local government and overseen elections. James, who is a Michigan congressman, added that DeBoyer knows how to work with both parties in the Legislature to get things done. DeBoyer represents parts of St. Clair and Macomb counties, northeast of Detroit. The Michigan Republican Party will hold its nominating convention to officially ratify the ticket on August 22nd at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant.

The Democratic nominee for governor, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, has not announced her running mate yet. She has an August 25th deadline to name her choise for lieutenant governor. The Michigan Democratic Convention will be held August 29th at the Lansing Center.
