Muskegon Twp., MI (WGHN) – Three people who went missing during a tubing trip on the Muskegon River have been found alive and safe. Michigan State Police say Jazmin Houck, Sarah Vida and 9-year-old Kayden Kovalcik were found around 4:30 Friday afternoon.
They were located about three-quarters of a mile northeast of the Mill Iron Boat Launch in Muskegon County.
The three had been missing for about 72 hours.
Search crews found small child footprints near a log jam along the riverbank Friday. A Michigan State Police K-9 team followed the tracks into the woods and eventually found the group.
The three were tired and dehydrated after spending three days in the wilderness. They were taken to a hospital to be checked out.
All three are expected to recover.
The rescue followed several days of searching by Michigan State Police, the Department of Natural Resources and other agencies.
