(Lansing, MI) – Michigan is investing one-point-five-million dollars in five projects aimed at strengthening the state’s maritime industry. The funding will leverage another two-million dollars from private industry, bringing the total investment to three-point-five-million dollars. Projects include an autonomous maritime testing corridor, an electric research vessel and a cold-water first responder designed for Lake Superior search and rescue.
The projects are part of Michigan’s new 10-year Maritime Strategy focused on infrastructure, clean energy, research and workforce development.
