The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says some of the eight people killed in Friday morning’s house fire in Grand Haven Township had been shot.
Authorities say all eight victims were related and lived in the home. The two adults were in their 40s, while the six children ranged in age from 5 to 15. Their names are being withheld pending further investigation.
Firefighters discovered the victims while battling the blaze at a home in the 14000 block of Riverside Trail.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the Michigan State Police Arson Unit.
Grand Haven Area Public Schools says crisis response teams are being prepared to support students and staff as the community copes with the tragedy.
