Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – It’s a busy week for local governments and school boards across the Tri-Cities.
The Grand Haven City Council meets Monday and is expected to revisit the Brownfield tax increment financing plan for the proposed Flatiron Building redevelopment in Centertown. Developers have revised the project to include additional public amenities, including benches, bicycle racks and informational kiosks.
Council members will also consider extending the Grand Haven Elks’ Pol-Elk’s-Ski-Days celebration by one day, updating the city’s downtown ordinance to address e-bikes and scooters, and approving an emergency storm sewer repair on South Griffin Street.
In Ferrysburg, the City Council will consider appointing a new member to fill a vacant seat. Planning
Commission member Connor DeYoung has applied to complete the remainder of the term, which runs through November 2027. The council will also discuss a traffic study, e-bike regulations and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority matters.
The Grand Haven Area Public Schools Board of Education will decide whether to place a $98.6 million bond proposal on the November ballot. If approved by voters, the bond would fund renovations at Ferry, Peach Plains and Rosy Mound elementary schools, along with playground improvements, new buses, technology upgrades and additional music equipment.
The Spring Lake Village Council meets Monday at 6 p.m. at Barber School, 102 W. Exchange St. The village’s Downtown Development Authority will also hold a work session Thursday at noon at the same location.
Ottawa County has multiple meetings planned. The Community Mental Health Finance Committee meets Monday at 3 p.m. at the Community Mental Health Building, 12265 James St.
On Friday, the Ottawa County Land Bank Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Cedar Conference Room at the County Administration Building, 12220 Fillmore St. The Community Mental Health Recipient Rights Advisory Committee will meet immediately before the Community Mental Health Board of Directors meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. in the main board room.
In Spring Lake Township, the Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at Barber School. Other meetings include the Board of Review on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Township Hall, 101 S. Buchanan St., and the Corridor Improvement Authority on Tuesday at noon at Barber School.
