(Lansing, MI) – Health officials in Michigan are urging residents to avoid bagged lettuce to keep from getting the cyclosporiasis infection. The parasite has been causing thousands across the country to get explosive diarrhea and other severe symptoms. Over five-thousand cases of the infection have been reported, with over three-thousand in Michigan alone.
The CDC and the FDA say they are investigating several outbreaks linked to fresh produce. Michigan officials are still investigating the cause of the outbreak, but are urging residents in the meanwhile to avoid salad mixes and bagged lettuce.
