(Grand Rapids, MI) – The number of first time filings for unemployment are increasing across Michigan. That’s according to the U.S. Department of Labor, which says for the week ending July 4th, there were just over 93-hundred first time filings in the state, which is more than four-thousand more filings than the week prior. Nationally, the number of initial filings decreased compared to the week prior.
Ottawa County was tied with Allegan County for the 3rd lowest unemployment rate of all Michigan counties in May.
