Ottawa County, MI (WGHN) – All the latest construction now on one page for your convenience.
Drivers throughout Ottawa County should expect detours, lane closures and delays as several major road and bridge projects get underway during the week of July 6, according to the Ottawa County Road Commission.
The projects include a new roundabout, a bridge rehabilitation, road resurfacing and multiple culvert replacement projects that will affect travel across several townships throughout the summer and into the fall.
Roundabout construction begins at Lincoln Street and 144th Avenue
One of the largest projects begins Monday, July 6, at the intersection of Lincoln Street and 144th Avenue in Grand Haven and Robinson townships.
The intersection will be completely closed while crews construct a new roundabout designed to improve traffic flow and increase safety.
Construction is expected to continue through approximately Aug. 10, although officials note the schedule is weather dependent.
The project includes:
- Removing the existing roadway up to 700 feet in each direction from the intersection.
- Reconstructing each roadway approach.
- Installing new storm sewer drainage infrastructure.
- Building concrete curbs and the center island of the roundabout.
- Paving new asphalt.
- Reconstructing driveway approaches.
- Installing permanent traffic signs and pavement markings.
During construction, both Lincoln Street and 144th Avenue will remain closed.

- 152nd Avenue
- Groesbeck Street
- Mercury Drive/Green Street
- 128th Avenue
144th Avenue traffic
- Lake Michigan Drive (M-45)
- 128th Avenue
- Green Street/Mercury Drive
Bridge rehabilitation closes 104th Avenue
Also beginning July 6, 104th Avenue between James Street and Riley Street in Holland Township will close for an extensive bridge rehabilitation project over Black Creek.
The project is expected to continue through Nov. 30.
Work will include:
- Demolition of the existing bridge superstructure.
- Construction of new bridge supports.
- Installation of a new bridge deck.
- Reconstruction of roadway approaches.
- Asphalt paving.
- New guardrails.
- Permanent pavement markings.
A signed detour will direct motorists around the closure.

Southbound traffic
- Riley Street
- 112th Avenue
- James Street
Culvert replacement projects
Two culvert replacement projects are also scheduled to begin Monday.
Jamestown Township
24th Avenue between Riley Street and Byron Road will close through approximately July 17.
Traffic will be detoured via:
- Byron Road
- 32nd Avenue
- Riley Street
Tallmadge Township
Linden Drive between M-45 and Leonard Street will also close for a culvert replacement.
Traffic will be detoured using:
- M-45
- 24th Avenue
- Leonard Street
Officials have not announced an estimated completion date for that project.
Road resurfacing projects begin July 7
On Tuesday, July 7, contractors will begin resurfacing two additional county roads.
Cleveland Street — Crockery Township
Resurfacing will take place between M-104 and 96th Avenue.
Officials expect the nearby Cleveland Street bridge over Crockery Creek to reopen before paving begins.
The resurfacing project is expected to continue through late July.
Rather than closing the road, crews will maintain traffic using temporary lane closures controlled by flaggers. Drivers should expect delays during working hours.
Leonard Street — Spring Lake Township
Another resurfacing project begins between the Spring Lake village limits and 148th Avenue.
Traffic will also be maintained with flag-controlled lane closures while work continues through late July.
Other projects continue across Ottawa County
Numerous long-term construction projects remain underway, including:
- Bridge rehabilitation on Adams Street in Jamestown Township.
- Bridge rehabilitation on 12th Avenue in Georgetown Township.
- Road reconstruction on 124th Avenue in Holland Township.
- Roundabout construction at Port Sheldon Street and 120th Avenue in Olive Township.
- Bridge replacement on Cleveland Street in Crockery Township.
- Water main installation projects in Allendale, Georgetown, Grand Haven, Holland and Olive townships.
- Sanitary sewer work on Lakewood Boulevard in Holland Township.
The Ottawa County Road Commission reminds drivers that all construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change. Motorists are encouraged to obey posted detours, reduce speeds in work zones and allow additional travel time when traveling through construction areas this summer.
