Ottawa County, MI (WGHN) – Two suspects are in custody after Ottawa County deputies recovered a stolen SUV following a foot chase Tuesday afternoon near Crockery Lake. The 2014 Ford Edge was reported stolen from the 48 West Apartments in Allendale Township sometime between June 29 and June 30.
At 1:44 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy spotted the stolen SUV on Gooding Street in Chester Township and attempted a traffic stop. The driver pulled into a private driveway, and both occupants ran from the vehicle.
Deputies, with assistance from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Grand Valley State University Police, established a perimeter and searched the area. The suspects were found hiding beneath a pontoon boat.
A 19-year-old Grand Rapids man was lodged in the Ottawa County Jail on multiple charges. A 15-year-old from Grandville was released to their parents. The stolen SUV was recovered and returned to its owner. The investigation remains ongoing.
