SPRING LAKE, MI — The Spring Lake Village Council approved a $16.9 million budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year during its regular meeting Monday night.
The budget, which takes effect July 1, totals $16,939,760 and includes funding for public improvements, utility operations, downtown development projects and park enhancements.
The Grand Haven Tribune reports that major allocations include $2.03 million for public improvements, $1.52 million for the sewer fund, $1.57 million for the water fund, $2.84 million for the Downtown Development Authority and $572,296 for improvements at North Bank Park.
A public hearing on the proposed budget was held before the vote, but no residents offered comments.
The council also approved the village’s 2026-27 fee schedule. Most fees remain unchanged, though several updates were made.
New fees include a $450 rezoning, map amendment and text amendment application fee, along with a $500 escrow requirement. A $50 per-team reservation fee was also added for sports facilities at North Bank Park to help offset maintenance and operating costs.
The village eliminated its annual 3% increase for seasonal dock rentals and removed the kayak rental fee. However, rental rates for the Tanglefoot Park Pavilion will increase by 3% during the upcoming fiscal year.
