(Mackinac Island, MI) – The three Democrats seeking that party’s nomination in Michigan’s U.S. Senate election held a debate at the Mackinac Policy Conference on Thursday. State Senator Mallory McMorrow says the Democratic Party has an antisemitism problem and says a state convention attendee yelled a slur at her Jewish husband in April. Former Wayne County health director Abdul El-Sayed says he wants to tax billionaires seven-percent of their wealth and invest the money into healthcare, functional infrastructure, and schools.
Congresswoman Haley Stevens was asked about accepting donations from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-Israel 501(c)4 that does not have to disclose its members, but answered people “are frustrated because we have not done comprehensive campaign finance reform.”
