Grand Haven Twp., MI (WGHN) – A report of a body wrapped in a trash bag behind a Grand Haven Township business Wednesday morning turned out to be a false alarm.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area near M-45 and U.S. 31 after receiving a call about a possible deceased person, according to Capt. Jake Sparks.

The Grand Haven Tribune reports that when deputies arrived, they discovered the man was alive and asleep.

“We did respond to a call about a body in a trash bag found in that area this morning,” Sparks told the Tribune. “Fortunately, upon arrival, we located the person and found them to be alive and sleeping.”

Authorities checked on the man’s condition before transporting him to a shelter that is assisting him with housing, Sparks said.

The incident happened at a business in the 11200 block of U.S. 31 near Northland Express Transport.
