(Mackinac Island, MI) – U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin says she wants a housing emergency declared nationwide to help get more affordable homes available. The Democrat said at the Mackinac Policy Conference that the federal government has “declared an emergency on everything else” and people badly need relief in the housing market.
Slotkin says Grand Rapids and Holland are areas that are getting the housing puzzle solved, but people need to talk with government leaders to get zoning laws changed to allow for more affordable homes or apartments to be built.
