(Undated) — Whether they travel by air or on the ground, Memorial Day travelers will be shelling out a lot more this year. NBC’s Tom Costello has more.
However, travelers may have snagged deals if they booked early, before rising jet fuel prices started to affect airfares.
Meantime, drivers will be paying a lot more to fill their gas tanks. The average price for a gallon of regular grade fuel today is just under four-dollars-53-cents, compared with three-19 a year ago. That’s according to Triple A, which estimates that 45 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home between Thursday May 21st and Monday May 25th.

Katy Nastro of the travel website Going-dot-com says prices may start to affect people’s plans.
