Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Fire crews returned to the scene of an overnight house fire in Grand Haven early Thursday after a rekindle was reported at the home.
According to Grand Haven Department of Public Safety, crews were dispatched around 4:40 a.m. May 8 to the 1000 block of Waverly for the rekindle of the previous residential fire. Firefighters extinguished the flames and remained on scene conducting overhaul operations.
The original fire was reported around 10:09 p.m. Wednesday. Responding units arrived to find an active residential fire and launched an offensive attack. After several hours, crews brought the fire under control.
Officials said the fire was contained to the original home, but the residence is considered a total loss. One person was inside the home at the time of the fire and escaped safely before emergency crews arrived.
No injuries were reported.
Grand Haven Public Safety was assisted by Grand Haven Charter Township Fire Rescue, Life EMS Ambulance, Ferrysburg Fire Department and Spring Lake Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
