(Saginaw, MI) — Democrats are retaining control of the Michigan Senate with Chedrick Greene winning the special election in the 35th Senate District. The seat has been vacant since Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet resigned January 3rd last year after being elected to the U.S. House. Governor Gretchen Whitmer waited 238 days to call for the special elections and Midland, Bay, and Saginaw counties have not had a senator for 488 days now.
Greene received nearly 59-percent of the vote compared to 39-percent for Republican Jason Tunney.
