(Grand Rapids, MI) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer is declaring a state of emergency in dozens of Michigan counties- including several in West Michigan. Allegan, Barry, Montcalm, Newaygo and Oceana are among the counties included in the state of emergency. It was issued due to flooding, wind damage, and tornadoes in the area.
The governor says the state of emergency will remain in effect until May 13th- or until the threats to public harm, safety, and property stop.
