Grand Rapids, MI (WGHN) – The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a High Wind Warning for Ottawa County till 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. Right now there are power outages throughout the state.
Outages were especially concentrated in Kent and Ottawa counties. As of about 5:50 a.m., Consumers Energy reported more than 3,000 customers without power in Kent County and nearly 2,900 in Ottawa County. Other outages included about 950 customers in Allegan County, nearly 600 in Montcalm County, and more than 580 in Muskegon County.
Smaller outages were also reported in Van Buren, Barry, and Branch counties.
Utility crews are working to restore service.
Impacts:
Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
