(Grand Rapids, MI) – Democratic candidate for governor Jocelyn Benson is laying out her housing agenda if she is elected in November. The Secretary of State says she wants to ban private investors from buying homes that have been on the market for less than 100 days and also wants to tax short-term rental homes like VRBO and Airbnb. Benson unveiled her agenda in Grand Rapids yesterday, and said a nine-bill package focused on zoning reforms currently before lawmakers is a great start and says zoning is a big piece of what is needed to help get housing costs down.

She said people who live and work in Michigan need to be able to afford to purchase a home.
