(Washington, DC) – More dangerously cold weather is headed for the Midwest and Northeast. Forecasters say another Arctic cold front will be dipping into the lower 48 states next week, causing temperatures to plunge from Des Moines to Boston starting Monday, and lake-effect snow in the Great Lakes area. Daytime highs will be in the 20s and 30s throughout the region through New Year’s Day, with highs in the single digits in the Upper Midwest.
The extreme cold will be a radical shift from the spring-like weather across the region on Christmas week, when Indianapolis was in the 60s. On Monday the high in Indianapolis will be in the mid 20s.
