Bicyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash in Grand Haven Township; deputies seek hit-and-run SUV

Grand Haven Twp., MI (WGHN) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist in Grand Haven Township.

Deputies were called around 5:13 p.m. Sunday to the area of Mercury Drive and Lake Avenue. Investigators say a 26-year-old Grand Haven man was riding his bicycle northwest on Mercury Drive when he was struck by a car traveling in the same direction. The impact threw him from the bike, and he was then hit by a second vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. A third vehicle also struck the man and left the scene.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities are asking for help identifying the third vehicle, described by witnesses as a light-colored or white SUV with a female passenger believed to be between 50 and 60 years old. No description of the driver is available.
