Number Of Deer Hunters In Michigan Down By 200,000 In 25 Years

(Lansing, MI) – Fewer people are getting deer hunting licenses in Michigan and the Department of Natural Resources says the deer population is growing as a result. From 1995 to 2023, the DNR says the state lost around 200-thousand deer hunters. That is a 30-percent decline.

The DNR did a survey and found factors like an aging population, young people not getting into hunting, and not having access to private land are among the top factors.
