Plans for a Grand Haven Children’s Museum are moving forward

Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – During a special work session Monday night, City Council heard a proposal to make Central Park Place the museum’s future home. Founder Rachel Dody says the goal is to engage children through hands-on learning experiences that spark imagination and creativity.

The museum plans to lease about 13,500 square feet of the community center for 10 years, with the option to renew. Rent would be just over two thousand dollars during construction — and drop to a dollar a year once open. The project would also include a 5,000-square-foot expansion — all privately funded and built at no cost to the city. Supporters say the museum could save the city more than a hundred thousand dollars a year and bring in nearly six million dollars in local economic impact.

City Council could vote later this month to begin lease negotiations. If approved, the Grand Haven Children’s Museum could open by mid-2028.
