(Lansing, MI) – The Michigan House of Representatives has approved the state budget for Fiscal Year 2026. The Senate early this morning voted to approve the 51-point-eight-billion-dollar omnibus budget, sending it to Governor Whitmer for her signature. The school aid budget is still awaiting a Senate vote and will bring the entire budget to around 80-billion-dollars.
Whitmer has said it includes funding to continue giving all public school students free breakfast and lunch and includes long-term road repair funding. There is also a 24-percent tax on cannabis products in the budget, and all of that tax revenue will be put toward roads.
