CROCKERY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 24-year-old motorcyclist from Coopersville is dead following a fatal crash early Saturday morning in Ottawa County.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched around 9:39 a.m. to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Leonard Street near 129th Avenue in Crockery Township. Preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Leonard Street on a 2019 Rav4 when, for reasons still under investigation, they left the roadway and entered a ditch. The man was transported by Aeromed to an area hospital.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time, pending notification of next of kin. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it’s unclear whether speed, alcohol, or road conditions were contributing factors.
