Georgetown Twp., MI (WGHN) – A 52-year-old man is dead and a woman is in custody following a Thursday morning shooting in Georgetown Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called around 9:12 a.m. to the 100 block of Brookmeadow Court, where they found the man dead from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the shooting appears to have stemmed from a domestic situation. A 49-year-old Georgetown Township woman was taken into custody. Sheriff’s officials said both individuals were known to the department and had a prior domestic history. “There is no threat to the community,” Capt. Jake Sparks said.
Detectives remained at the scene Thursday processing evidence and interviewing people connected to the residence. The investigation is ongoing.
